After YouTube desktop, its mobile apps are the latest in line to join the dark side.
YouTube announced on Tuesday that its mobile app is getting a dark mode, just like its desktop site.and the company says since then, it’s become one of the most requested features for its mobile apps. Set to roll out on iOS in the coming days, the dark theme (as it has been officially dubbed) turns all of the white space black and swaps the text from black to white. YouTube says that the dark theme will come to Android soon as well.

To access the new theme, tap your account icon on the top right, select “Settings,” then select “Dark Theme.” The app will automatically switch to a darker hue, with no app restart necessary for the change to go into effect.
The company introduced a hidden dark mode for the desktop client in May 2017, around the same time when the service rolled out its cleaner and simpler Material Design-inspired interface.
The mode helps users to focus more on the content and not the controls. According to some tests, in it potentially helps in saving battery life for users who spend more hours on YouTube.
In addition to the dark mode, YouTube is working on other handy features for the users. Past rumors have suggested that an “incognito mode” for the YouTube app is under development.
